Home About Us Meet Our Team

Meet our team

In addition to our wonderful students, we have a fantastic staff team, led by an experienced Senior Leadership Team, who work collaboratively to provide our students with the best possible educational experience.

Laura Horne – Executive Headteacher

As the Executive Headteacher, Laura oversees both Red Moor School and Oak Tree School in Truro. Working in a variety of education settings since 2006, Laura started with her BA in Primary Education in Birmingham where she taught at an inner-city primary school for three years. Following her move to Cornwall in 2008, Laura continued her education journey working as a Key Skills Lecturer at Truro College before moving to the Alternative Provision Academies (APA) in Cornwall as the Acting Teacher in Charge at the New Horizons Nurture Group for a year and a half.

Laura then completed her Master’s in Education and her NPQH whilst working at our sister school; Oak Tree School, where she was Deputy Head for 6 years. Laura’s vast experience sees her very well placed to lead the teams at Red Moor School and Oak Tree School.

Laura is wholly committed to ensuring that every student that enters Red Moor School experiences the opportunities and success they deserve, in both their educational achievements and their social and emotional development.

Ashley Bradshaw – Headteacher

Ashley began his teaching career in 2009 as a secondary school PE teacher in Cornwall. After a couple of years in mainstream and a meeting with a young autistic student, Ashley decided that he wanted to change his direction from mainstream and support autistic students and associated barriers to learning. Ashley relocated to Birmingham and worked for 3 years and started his transition learning how to support students with severe and complex learning difficulties.

After 3 successful years in Birmingham Ashley had a short career break going on an extended honeymoon travelling Indonesia and Australia. On his return Ashley joined Oak Tree School as an autism specialist teacher and worked in a range of classes before joining the senior leadership team overseeing the school curriculum, admissions and leading the whole school improvement on its autism provision. During this time Ashley also completed a post graduate Diploma in Autism and is now working with the autism trust as a trainer and also developing the training resources and programmes for the UK and Dubai.

Ashley is passionate about working with children and giving them skills and resilience to succeed in the world around them.

Sam Stevenson – Deputy Headteacher

After graduating from the University of Gloucestershire with a First Class Degree in Sports Education, Sam began coaching a range of different sports to students with SEN. It was here that his love for working with students with SEN started to grow.

Sam is also a keen Mathematician and during his time at university he was employed as a Maths and English tutor where he worked with a wide range of students aged 5-16.

In 2016 Sam relocated to Cornwall and began his educational journey in schools as a TA at Oak Tree. Whilst at Oak Tree, Sam completed both his Initial Teacher Training and Newly Qualified Teacher training before taking on the role of Designated Teacher for Children in Care, a role that he is still incredibly passionate about and continues to carry out at Red Moor School.

Sam is also a Trauma Informed Schools Practitioner and is wholly committed to ensuring that all students feel safe, secure and happy to come to school every single day by the school providing a supportive, loving and caring environment.

Sean Ziehm-Stephen – Assistant Headteacher

Sean dual trained in P.E and Outdoor Education and started his career in Education as a P.E teacher before becoming involved in a project working with those out of education, employment or training for a number of years. In this role, he primarily worked with young people with complex needs and ASD.

Prior to starting at Red Moor School, Sean managed an Outdoor Centre for 6 years and brings both his experience as a teacher combined with his expertise in the Outdoor industry to the role. Sean is a qualified instructor specialising in kayaking, sailing, powerboating, mountain biking, climbing, hill walking, and archery.

In his spare time, he loves to find wild places and go on adventures.

Tom Fox – Assistant Headteacher

Over the past 11 years Tom has had a diverse career in education, starting in primary schools where he specialized in Outdoor Education and Physical Education. Tom joined Red Moor school as a class tutor, and went on to become Head of Faculty for Humanities, and later Head of Faculty for Personal Development, teaching PSHE.
In his current role, Tom’s main focus is on fostering a positive school culture, where every student feels safe, respected, and motivated to learn. Tom works continually with staff, students, and parents to promote positive behaviour and attitudes, ensuring an inclusive and supportive environment.
Before taking the Education world by storm, Tom was a chef, which has given him a unique perspective on creativity and discipline. Outside of work, he enjoys surfing and surf life saving, which inspire his teaching methods and help him connect with students.
Tom is excited to continue supporting our school community, ensuring it remains a place where everyone can thrive.

Kerry Dash – Senior Leadership Team and Business Manager

Kerry joined our Senior Leadership team in 2022 and brings a different perspective to the Team: Her educational background in Law, Criminology and Accountancy means that she has keen attention to detail, awareness of the importance of procedures, and an almost concerning interest in Microsoft Excel. Kerry’s interest in 90’s trivia, escape rooms, and quizzes has resulted in her having a great memory and recall of ‘interesting’ facts and creative problem-solving skills.

After surviving a stint as an Estate Agent, Kerry began her career in education in 2014 as a primary School administrator in a mainstream setting. She then provided attendance and admissions admin support at College before joining the Red Moor team in October 2020, as part of our administration team, and progressing on to the Senior leadership Team.

Kerry’s proudest moment at Red Moor is being chosen for the Student’s Choice Award by the students of Red Moor School. Her proudest moment outside of Red Moor School is meeting the Chuckle Brothers…. or two people who looked and sounded remarkably like them and answered to Paul and Barry when spoken to.
