Family Support Team

Supporting children, young people and families

Our Family Support Team is here to support children, young people and their families with any challenges that may affect their wellbeing, learning, attendance or family life.

We understand that every family is different, and sometimes a little extra support can make a big difference. Our team works closely with families, pupils and school staff to provide practical, emotional and pastoral support in a friendly, respectful and confidential environment.

How we can help

The Family Support Team can offer support with areas such as:

  • Attendance and punctuality
  • Family relationships and communication
  • Emotional wellbeing and confidence
  • Behaviour and routines at home
  • Parenting support and advice
  • Changes or difficulties within the family
  • School-related concerns
  • Signposting to local services and community organisations
  • Accessing additional support when needed

Working together

We believe that working in partnership with families is key to helping children thrive. Our team will listen to your concerns, help you explore possible solutions and work alongside you to identify the right support.

Where appropriate, we can also work with other professionals and services to ensure that families receive coordinated support.

You are not alone

Asking for support is a positive step. Whether you have a specific concern or simply feel that things are becoming difficult at home, we are here to listen without judgement.

If you would like to speak to a member of the Family Support Team, please contact the school office on 01726 219472 or speak directly to a member of the team.

Cornwall Council Child and Young Person Mental Health Support

The CYP Team and Cornwall Council would like to remind parents and carers that there is support available all year round for their own and their children’s mental wellbeing, whether it’s during term-time or school holidays.

With the constant disruption, anxiety and stress many adults and children have endured in recent years, it is normal and entirely understandable to feel exhausted, overwhelmed, frustrated or worried right now. What is important is to reach out for support.

Please click here for more information on the support available from Cornwall Council.

SENCO and SEND Support

Supporting every child to reach their potential

Our SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) team leads our approach to supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

We are committed to ensuring that every pupil is included, valued and supported to achieve their potential. Our SENCO works closely with pupils, parents and carers, teachers and other professionals to identify needs, put appropriate support in place and review progress.

We recognise that every child is different. Our approach focuses on each pupil’s individual strengths, needs and experiences.

How we can help

Our SENCO can provide support and guidance in areas including:

  • Identifying and understanding special educational needs
  • Supporting learning and progress
  • Communication and interaction needs
  • Speech, language and communication needs
  • Social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Sensory and/or physical needs
  • Supporting pupils with disabilities
  • Developing appropriate support strategies and reasonable adjustments
  • Working with external professionals and specialist services
  • Providing advice and guidance for parents and carers
  • Supporting transitions between classes, schools and key stages

Working together

We believe that effective SEND support is built on strong partnerships between the school, pupils, parents and carers.

Our SENCO works alongside teachers and support staff to ensure that appropriate provision is identified and reviewed. Where necessary, we may also work with specialist professionals and external agencies to help us understand and meet a pupil’s needs.

We value the views of children and young people and encourage them to be involved in decisions about their education and support wherever appropriate.

We are here to help

If you have concerns about your child’s learning, development or special educational needs and disabilities, please contact our SENCO through the school office.

Together, we can help every pupil feel valued, included and supported to achieve their best.
