At Red Moor, the Humanities Faculty is dedicated to providing a broad, inclusive curriculum that helps students engage meaningfully with the world around them. We offer History, Geography, Religious Education (RE), and Languages, each designed to support the development of not only academic knowledge but also the social, emotional, and interpersonal skills needed for personal growth, resilience, and empathy. Our curriculum is tailored to the specific needs of students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive in a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment.

Approach to Teaching
At the core of our teaching is a commitment to inclusion, well-being, and personal development. We design lessons that are engaging, interactive, and responsive to the needs of each student. Through active, participatory learning, we encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence. Our approach is flexible, ensuring that students can learn at their own pace, build confidence, and develop self-esteem. We collaborate with other faculties and support staff to provide cross-curricular opportunities that enhance learning across subjects.

The Humanities curriculum at Red Moor is carefully sequenced to ensure progression and continuity. Students are supported through differentiated learning, with clear pathways to qualifications such as Unit Award Schemes in the lower years, ASDAN in the middle years, and GCSEs in the upper years. This enables students to achieve their potential and obtain nationally recognised qualifications, which are essential for their future success.
Our goal is to create a safe and stimulating environment where students feel empowered to express themselves, reflect on their learning, and make meaningful connections with the world around them. Through the Humanities, we strive to nurture informed, compassionate, and responsible citizens who can navigate the challenges of the world with confidence and empathy, both during their time at Red Moor and beyond.
